Social impact on relationships
Love undoubtedly constitutes an absolutely fundamental value – it is both the true core and an extremely powerful driving force behind all our daily actions and life choices. However, no intimate relationship built carefully between two in love people can ever be completely created in a vacuum or in isolation from the surrounding society. Numerous expectations from loved ones, ready-made patterns to imitate drawn from culture, daily professional and family obligations, and the constant perception of ourselves through the lens of other people’s opinions all strongly influence our key decisions. Sometimes this enormous external pressure becomes so overwhelming and difficult to bear that one of the partners finally literally breaks down under it or loses the remnants of courage to continue bravely following their own individual path. In such critical moments, true love must not only effectively maintain the spark in the relationship, but also bravely resist all destructive external influences.
True love also means giving the other person freedom and space to develop. A relationship only makes sense when two people are themselves and not fulfilling other people's expectations.
